This course provides an introduction to WAN (Wide Area Network) Standards and Security Protocols, which are used often in large production environment. Learners will become familiar with the speeds, capacities and types of media used for each WAN technology.
Objectives:
- Identify the basic characteristics of packet switching, circuit switching, ISDN, FDDI, T1, T3, OCx, and X.25
- Identify the basic characteristics of the xDSL, broadband cable, POTS/PSTN, satellite, and wireless internet access
- Define the function of remote access protocols and services
- Identify, and describe the purpose and function of the security protocols
- Identify the authentication protocols
