CompTIA A+

CompTIA A+ certification is an international industry credential that validates the knowledge of computer service technicians with the equivalent of 500 hours of hands-on experience. Major hardware and software vendors, distributors and resellers accept CompTIA A+ as the standard in foundation-level, vendor-neutral certification for service technicians. The exams cover a broad range of hardware and software technologies, but are not bound to any vendor-specific products. The skills and knowledge measured by the CompTIA A+ exams were derived from an industry-wide and worldwide job task analysis. To date, more than 500,000 individuals have obtained CompTIA A+ certification.

Earning CompTIA A+ certification proves that a candidate has a broad base of knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.

You will need to pass both A+ Operating Systems and A+ Hardware.

The CompTIA A+ series prepares learners for the CompTIA A+ certification exams: Core Hardware and OS Technologies. Topics covered in this series include microprocessors, displays, storage media and devices, printers, modems, buses, operating systems, and more. Gaining CompTIA A+ certification assures employers and computer owners that a PC repair technician has the requisite knowledge to build, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair personal computer (PC) systems.

CompTIA Network+

The CompTIA Network+ certification is an international industry credential that validates the knowledge of
networking professionals with at least nine months of experience in network support or administration or adequate academic training. Earning a CompTIA Network+ certification demonstrates that a candidate can describe the features and functions of networking components, and possesses the knowledge and skills needed to install, configure and troubleshoot basic networking hardware, protocols and services. The exam tests technical ability in the areas of media and topologies, protocols and standards, network implementation, and network support. The exam also covers new technologies such as wireless networking and gigabit Ethernet.

This series provides an overview of networking principles and practices. It is designed to prepare the student to pass the CompTIA Network+ exam. Topics include network topologies, operating systems, transmission media and network components. The series also covers the OSI Reference Model, common networking protocols with a focus on TCP/IP, and remote connectivity methods and protocols, as well as network planning, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.

The A+ and Network+ certifications will count towards the elective for the MCSA.

MCSA

This stands for Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator.

This will give you the skills to managing, supporting, and troubleshoot the ongoing needs of Microsoft Windows server-based operating environments. MCSA’s are able to analyze business requirements and design and implement the infrastructure for business solutions. Its one of the fasted growing qualifications in the UK and is aimed at support and administration positions.

You will gain vital experience managing and supporting a desktop server and network operations in an existing network infrastructure.

Cisco CCNA

This series is designed to help users prepare for the Cisco Certified Network Associate examination. It covers the OSI Reference Model and uses it to explain networks and network functions. It also explains networks and data transfers, LANs and WANs, and bridges, switches, and routers. An introduction to IOS and IOS configuration is provided, and various networking topics are examined, including TCP/IP, IP addressing and routing, IPX networking, and security. This series includes two exam preparation courses, as well as a course that introduces alternative base numbering systems used in Cisco management.

The qualifications outlined here will show prospective employers that you have the skills to support maintain and administer desktop units, servers and have hardware and software networking skills.
