This course examines server-side scripting and how it extends Web server functionality, including database connectivity. It also examines the issue of network security, and how to identify and protect against security threats using tools such as encryption, authentication, and firewalls.
Objectives:
- Explain the uses of server-side scripting and define gateways, including CGI
- Describe server programming interface alternatives to CGI, such as Java gateways, ActiveX Data Objects and Server Application Programming Interfaces
- Describe server-side scripting applications, including Java Server Pages, Personal Home Page, Active Server Pages and Server-Side Java Script
- Explain the different types of databases and database management systems
- Explain the need for network security and identify resources that require security
- Describe the types of security threats and hacker attacks
- Explain how to protect your computer from a virus attack
- Describe the audit process and authentication principles
