This course provides an overview of Internet programming and scripting languages, including C, C++, Java, JavaScript, ActiveX, Jscript and VBScript. It introduces several widely-used browser plug-ins and their functionality, and also provides an overview of security issues regarding the Internet, including cookies, authentication, encryption, firewalls and virus attacks.
Objectives:
- Describe objects, plug-ins and viewers, their purposes, and their relationships to multimedia
- Configure browser security preferences
- Explain the significance of security features including Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS), authentication, certificates, encryption, proxy servers and firewalls
- Describe a computer virus and how to protect against attacks
