This course explains the hardware used in Cisco networking. It examines early bus networks and how they have been enhanced and expanded to become the robust networks used today. This course also discusses the hardware components of a network, and token passing topologies.
Objectives:
- Describe Ethernet operation
- Explain store and forward bridging
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of a star topology versus a bus topology
- Identify hardware typical of Layers 1 through 3 of the OSI model
- Explain the functions of and differences of bridges and Layer 2 switches
- Describe the operational differences and functions of Layer 1, 2, and 3 devices
